For the first time in the past three years, we finally found outselves able to show animals at the annual Lama Market show. This years' show had been moved from the former location in Eau Claire, WI to Menomonie, WI and proved to be a wonderful venue. The Dunn County Fairgrounds were easy to access, had lots of gorgeous mature oak trees for shade and the building was large enough to house both the animals and the show ring which means no waiting on deck in hot sun or pouring rain.

Being a very small farm we only had two youngsters that we could show so we go mostly to have fun, not expecting that we will actually beat out those bigger farms that have lots more animals to pick from. However, this year Lady Luck smiled on us.

From the time that Moonlit Lydia hit the ground we have felt she was something special but, until a judge agrees with that you just never know.

Lydia showed for the first time on June 21, 2009 and, in a class of 9, placed second. It was very gratifying to hear the judge say that he flip flopped the first and second place animals a few times in his mind before making his final determination. Placing second in a class means you also get to go back into the room while the judge determines the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion. While Lydia didn't win those awards just being there was thrill enough for us.

Lydia handled herself well in the ring despite being worried about the fact that her sister, Moon Roving, was not walking with her.

If you like the way Lydia looks and are in the market for a nice young breeding male, she has a full brother here that will turn two in September. Moonbeam doesn't quite have the length of neck that Lydia has but is conformationally correct with great bone, beautiful silky gray fiber and excellent head and ears. He also has a nice temperament and should be capable of siring nice youngsters.

We also showed Collorama's Moon Roving. She showed in a class of 20 and didn't place but handled herself beautifully. She would make a wonderful performance animal for someone who enjoys that aspect of showing.
